Toast

How this artwork fits with the Art of Repair:

Kerri Warner says:

This artwork was produced in 2021, a period marked by ongoing national recovery from the Covid-19 shutdown and the repercussions of the 2020 election, which contributed to societal divisions and a diminished sense of mutual respect and acceptance. The painting features three elderly women seated, observing a hostile crowd that is reflected in their glasses. The composition expresses my personal sense of helplessness, conveying the feeling of being limited to witnessing events rather than influencing them. One woman holds a toaster, serving as a symbol of hope for the future. This element references a comforting memory from my youth, when my grandmother would make toast to lift my spirits.
